Big news in our household this past week:
Ada got a new bed!
She had previously been sleeping on a hand-me-down toddler bed, which lacked any structural support for the mattress, aside from the giant book we shoved between the slats. Needless to say, the bed was not super comfortable, and we’ve always had trouble with her sleeping. She pops up at any and all times of the night, a silent lurking figure in the doorway, or a surprise bedfellow with a 3 AM accident.
My wise husband was convinced that she needed a new bed to sleep in.
So we upgraded-to another hand-me-down, courtesy of my super sister Shelby, who, much to my Dad’s dismay, will be going off the college in the fall (sniffle).
The bed is beautiful-that white shabby chic style that I adore, and it matches quite nicely with the purple-and-white theme of Ada’s room.
Ada is thrilled with her new bed.
“Come see my new bed!” she announces to anyone who has the unfortunate luck of entering our doors. “You have to close your eyes, ” she squeals, dragging them by the hand to her room.
But the best part of her new bed is the fact that it has worked. She has slept better, and as a result, is like a whole new woman-child. She is happier, more cheerful, and more talkative. Although I’ve been away for work this week, my husband reports, in amazement, how good she has been. It makes me a happy mom to think my baby girl is comfortable, at last.

Ok, this comment just made me realize why the Barnes & Noble nook is called that…;)
