Countdown To Baby

If I wanted to, I could have this baby in exactly one week.

While I still haven’t decided on the whole induction thing, the thought that it could be so close is crazy, isn’t it?

It’s so hard to think straight at this stage of the pregnancy-you are so miserable and swollen and everything hurts that it’s hard to remember, “Oh yeah, there’s an actual baby in there!”

I’m aiming hard to go naturally by the end of next week. Pressure points, castor oil, whatever it takes. Or at the very least, to be dilated so far that an induction wouldn’t be that big of a deal…(if that’s possible…)

So here is the master plan for the next week:

Sunday. Hanging out at home. The hubs has been working like a mad man mowing like 150 lawns, so hopefully we can all just veg for a day. I have a few articles to finish up, and he has a paper for his Masters class, so tomorrow should be a low-key day.

Monday. Beach day! I want to sneak in one annual family beach trip before the baby comes.

Tuesday. Dentist appointments. Blah. Our dentist is like an hour and a half away (he’s my uncle), so this is all all-day affair. It will be Ada’s first dentist appointment too because she’ll need to get signed off on her preschool papers. 🙁 I’ll definitely want to hit up Target for some last-minute baby stuff (nursing tanks, mostly) and convince Ben to take us all to lunch. Lucky for me, that doesn’t take much convincing.

Wednesday. Jam day! I’m pretty convinced this baby knows he can’t come until I make my annual year-supply of strawberry freezer jam. So. good. It’s really not a hard thing to do, but it is a time-consuming affair. I’m hoping to rope my mom and sisters into helping me too.

Thursday. Doctor’s appointment. This will be the telling day. My OB will check me in the office and I’ll have to make a decision on the induction thing. A big part will be how far I am dilated at that point, so fingers crossed!

Friday. My last scheduled day at work! I’ll be working an 8-hour shift, followed by….Magic Mike! You best believe I will all up in that theater waving as many dollar bills as I can fit in my maternity shorts. If the sight of a stripping Channing Tatum is not enough to throw me into labor, then honestly, I don’t know what it is.

Saturday. BABY! One way or another, I am really, really hoping this baby makes his appearance over the weekend. Although I guess we should really settle on a name first, huh?

About Chaunie

Hi, I'm Chaunie and I'm glad you're here! I admit this blog is a bit rusty, as most circa 2010-blogs are, but like us elder millennial moms ourselves, I figure it can still get the job done, am I right? So here's the deal: I'm a mom of five kids, teen to toddler, I've been a writer for about 10 years, mostly penning health articles in exchange for money to pay my bills, but after I was laid off, I decided it was now or never and I'm writing my first novel in a month. And I want you to be part of the process with me. So subscribe and get weekly emails with my latest juicy drafts. It's going to be fun. Read More…
