Would You Buy My Book For Young Moms??

Ok, guys.

I have incredible news.Β

Yesterday, I attended a writing conference across the state. While I was there, I had the opportunity to meet with a REAL, LIVE EDITOR for my book.

And get this.

She contacted me. As in sent me an email, which incidentally went to my spam folder and I just happened to check it right before I left, resulting in much freaking out, but that’s besides the point.

The point is, she actually read my book proposal. And liked it. Or liked it enough to take the time to email me to set up a time to meet with me at the conference. I didn’t have to lift a finger. She came to me!

I panicked the entire conference leading up to our meeting. In the hour countdown beforehand, I literally started having contractions I was panicking so much. And then I got a bad case of the farts, which was unfortunate, but also besides the point.

So we met, I discovered that–lo and behold–editors are real people. She was real and down-to-earth, and told me she liked my writing voice and the idea for the book, but that basically, it came down to marketing.

“I just want to make sure that young moms would actually buy this book…” she confessed.

As I’ve found out, in the book world, young moms are a hard market to reach.

I have a theory about this.

Young moms are a hard market to reach because–get this–we are too busy being supermoms, going to school, working, and taking care of our kids to buy a bazillion books.Β

But that doesn’t mean we aren’t here.Β

I want this book to happen so badly for all of us. For all of the incredible young mothers out there, like Tara of The Young Mommy Life, Michelle of Early Mama, Jasmine of Mrs. Mommy M.D. For me and the girls that have made my life what it is today. For all of you, with your amazing and inspiring stories.

For all of the young moms who are changing the world.

Now, for the part that I am asking, begging for your help in. The editor wants me to put together a detailed list of who exactly would buy my book before she decides if they will pursue publication.

Basically, I have to prove to her that there are people who would buy a book on young motherhood. So….

If you, or anyone you know of, would support this book in any way, shape, or form, whether it buying the book, spreading the word, or being a part of the book, please leave a comment below!!

I would love if you could also share this post on Facebook, Twitter, your own blogs or websites, etc. so we can spread the word that young moms deserve a voice.

Please help me make this happen!

Thank you everyone!!!!

  20. Susan Humes says:

I’ve been reading your blog for awhile now – I’d love to buy your book! I’m not a mom yet, but I’d greatly enjoy your insight. Really hope it works out for you!

  21. Jodie Schultz says:

Yes, Chaunie. I would buy your book and support you in any way I can!!

  22. I am definitely not a young mom but I would buy it as a gift!

  23. I would definitely buy your book!!

  24. I’m honored you mentioned my blog in your list of incredible moms. You just made my Monday! And even before I read that part, I was going to say HANDS DOWN I would not only buy/read your book, but I would gift it to other young moms. We may not be running to bookstores, but that is mainly bc we can’t imagine any book right now actually speaking to our lives – doing homework AND breastfeeding, having relationship drama with the baby’s father, and meanwhile trying to find good childcare, growing up super quickly while watching your baby grow too…it’s a unique and isolating experience all at once. Long story short, YES YES YES!

  25. Emily White says:

I would love the chance to buy your book. Good luck!

  26. Not a mom but I read your blog and am sure I’d love your book!

  27. We would love to feature your book also! Sounds like a great storyline, and one that we could completely relate to as well. πŸ™‚

  28. This is incredibly exciting news and I would love to read the book. I think there’s a great need for a book like this! And I will spread the word.

  29. YES! And I would buy it as a gift for my young mum friends. x

  30. I’d be in for a copy for myself and extras for all of my pregnant mom friends, because no matter their age, if you are a new mom, you are still a young mom in a sense.

Chaunie has a way of connecting and relating everything to make you feel she’s talking directly to you and about you. I’ve been an avid reader of hers for a long time now, and a book just makes sense for her. She’s ‘GOT IT”!

  31. Count me in! Mrs. Cory would be so proud…you told her, right? πŸ™‚

  32. Brittney Potter says:

    I would definitely buy it!

  33. I would totally buy it!!

  34. Jean Yorton says:

I would definitely buy your book!

  35. absoultly id buy it<3

  36. Amanda Sammons says:

I would definately purchase your book!!!

  37. Theresa Ramirez says:

I would buy this book for sure!

  38. I would buy it! I think it would be helpful for younger moms in general, I have friends in their thirties even, that while they aren’t EARLY mama per say, they are still inexperienced and I’m sure could relate to trying to find your own mom identity. There are so many common themes that I would love to see explored in book format. You get it girl!

  39. Kristen Smith says:

I would definetely buy your book!! I love reading your stuff, you have such an amazing way with words! It’s a book, of few, that I would actually make time to read!

  40. I would absolutely buy your book, and I know a ton of other young moms that would agree! You have much support, and plenty of terrified young moms (both planned/unplanned, both married/unmarried, both prepared/unprepared) who are backing you πŸ™‚
